The essence of the MEJIA series lies in its subtle yet definite presence. The choice of Ultrasuede was driven by a desire for timeless universality, unaffected by trends. It is suitable for all everyday occasions, whether it's a morning cafe, the office, or dinner.
The Philosophy Behind the Single Handle
Why a "single handle"? It reflects the way people walk today. To keep both hands free, bags are carried over the shoulder. The MEJIA handle is designed for this very action.
And hidden within this handle is a unique structure that balances beauty and functionality. The edges are double-layered, and the center is triple-layered. If the entire handle were triple-layered, it would become bulky, but by making only the high-stress interior triple-layered, the burden on the shoulder is reduced.
This is a handbag technique called "niku-mori" (literally "meat盛り," referring to padding), typically used to create a plump, luxurious handle with urethane. However, with MEJIA, Ultrasuede is also used for the core material. This prevents internal deterioration and maintains its beautiful shape over a long period.
